AARP Medicare Advantage 2021
AARP is known as the premier senior services provider in the country, so they are a good insurance company for anyone looking to enroll in the Medicare Part C, or Medicare Advantage plans. These powerful coverage plans are great for minimizing healthcare expenses, and the AARP Medicare Advantage 2021 offerings are worth a look for any senior hoping to keep their healthcare costs down.
AARP plans in particular are packed with value, and that is because they do more than just offer healthcare coverage. They also include some handy member perks at no extra cost. This can include benefits like membership at gyms all across the country and prescription medication drop-offs at your front door. AARP will also connect you with a nurse or medical doctor in a few minutes over the phone, and this service is available to you 24 hours a day. That can save you from having to go to the doctor’s office or the hospital over something minor that you could treat at home or with a quick trip to the pharmacy.
On top of its medical services, AARP offers it members financial advice and other perks that you simply cannot get from other kinds of health insurance providers. AARP is more than just an insurance company, but they do offer a range of insurance plans, like life insurance and more. You can bundle these together with their Medicare Advantage plans and enjoy some nice savings over what you would pay for each of the plans individually. You can save even more money if you include more people on the plans and enroll in a group plan or a family plan.
How Medicare Advantage Can Help You
Let’s talk about Medicare Advantage, though, and what it may be able to do for you. Now, with every Medicare Advantage plan, you always get the same base coverage. This would be coverage for pretty much all of the Medicare Part A and Part B services, as well as coverage for emergency medical care and urgently needed care. That’s a lot of coverage already, and that is just the base coverage you can expect every Medicare Advantage plan to include.
If you were to enroll in one of the higher coverage premium AARP Advantage plans, then you could get additional coverage for your healthcare expenses. You could get covered for routine checkups with your general practitioner or with your dentist, optometrist and your hearing specialist. You could also be covered for new eyeglasses or a new hearing aid. Some of the Advantage plans will include Medicare Part D coverage too, which is a powerful prescription drug plan that can really benefit you by covering both generic and name brand drug costs for you. It may not cover those drugs completely for you, but it can make a big difference in how much you are paying each time you go for a refill.
The Limits of Medicare Advantage Coverage
One of the benefits of enrolling in one of the AARP Medicare Advantage 2021 plans is that you can get covered just about everywhere. They have one of the most extensive networks of hospitals and doctor’s offices in the country. A relatively new partnership with United Healthcare has extended that network even further, so they can give you coverage in more places than ever before.
What this means to you is that you can get the full coverage of your plan so long as you stay within AARP’s (or United Healthcare’s) network. If you venture to a medical facility that is not part of their network, then you have to pay some or all of the cost of treatment.
AARP does give you a few options, though. They sell a standard HMO plan that only covers you on the network. This streamlined Advantage plan will be affordably priced, as you can see when you check the rates here on our site. This covers you fully inside AARP’s network and then covers you for absolutely nothing outside of the network.
If you are willing to pay a bit more for your insurance plan, then you could go with a PPO Advantage plan. This will cover you fully on the network as well, but then it also covers you partially outside the network. That could come in quite handy for you if you don’t live near an AARP network facility or if you travel often and may not end up within their network when you need medical care.
How You Can Sign up for Medicare Advantage
Anyone interested in enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan will first need to have an active basic Medicare plan. The two work together well, as the basic Medicare plan will pick up a little slack from the Medicare Advantage plan, taking care of hospice coverage for you. Medicare Advantage covers all the rest of the Medicare Part A and Part B expenses, along with all the other coverage items and healthcare expenses that we mentioned.
You can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan near your 65th birthday- up to three months before and up to three months after. This is the time where you are granted to be approved for whichever Medicare Advantage plan you apply for and where you get the best rates on these plans.
If you want to sign up after that period, then you can enroll from October 15th until December 7th. This same period will be available to you every year, so you can enroll at your leisure. If you want to check prices on Medicare Advantage plans, from AARP or another issuer, then you can do so on our site free of charge.
